Digestive issues are quite common today, but medication isn't needed to treat them effectively. Aligned Health Center, the first and only chiropractic and BioPhysics ® provider in Northern Ohio, offers Westlake, Ohio residents the help they need.

Digestive Issues

What causes digestive issues?

People who suffer from Crohn's disease and other diseases that cause digestive issues often wonder why these things happen. It appears that inflammation within the digestive tract is a key reason that Crohn's disease occurs, although the cause of that inflammation isn't certain. The most common theory is that the immune system responds to a virus or bacteria by causing the inflammation. Regardless of why digestive issues occur, chiropractic care is an excellent way to alleviate the unpleasant symptoms in many cases.

How will a patient with digestive issues be evaluated?

Patients will complete new patient paperwork at their first appointment. This paperwork can also be obtained on the Aligned Health Center website ahead of time. During the evaluation, the patient will discuss the issues that they’re having and will describe how the digestive issues are impacting their life. Any past treatments will be discussed at this time, as well. During the physical exam portion of the evaluation, the chiropractor will palpate the cervical and lumbar spine while the patient is both still and making directed motions. Other tests may be needed to help pinpoint the subluxations within the spine, as well. These additional tests often include digital postural x-rays, and may include neurological and orthopedic exams in some cases.

How will treatment help with digestive issues?

People who suffer from Crohn's disease and other diseases that cause inflammation or irritation in the digestive tract, upset stomach, and other problems can experience great relief with regular treatment. Recent studies from Japan indicate that there may be a link between Crohn's disease and spinal misalignment. According to the study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, patients who suffered from both vertebral subluxations and Crohn's disease experienced dramatic improvements in their Crohn's disease symptoms, or even a total elimination of symptoms, when undergoing regular correction and stabilization of subluxations.
